Privately owned, Charlestown harbour is renowned for its visitor centre, resident sailing ships, restaurants and pub, all within walking distance of Charlestown Cottages. Two of an attractive little row, they lie in a conservation area just a mile from the sandy beach at Carlyon Bay. St Austell, 3 miles, offers good shops, inns and restaurants, as well as a choice of beaches in the bay. Eden Project 4 miles. Lost Gardens of Heligan 5 miles. Mevagissey 6 miles.
