It is situated in the heart of Portland close to local shops, pubs and restaurants, and a children’s play area. The coastal path nearby takes you round the island, past stone quarries, which show the island’s history to the lighthouse at Portland Bill with stunning views, and cream teas in the cafe. The National Sailing Academy is situated in Portland Harbour and there are many water based activities to enjoy. Just over the causeway, Weymouth offers many traditional family attractions, centred on its award-winning sandy beach. Portland is ideally suited for visiting many famous attractions including Abbotsbury Gardens and Swannery, Lyme Regis to the west, and Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Swanage and the Isle of Purbeck to the east.
