Kiln House is situated in the market town of Wolsingham in picturesque Weardale, in the North Pennines and part of a designated AONB. Offering three welcoming, local pubs serving food, as well as a good choice of cafés and local shops selling a range of goods. Dating back to 1745, Kiln House has been lovingly restored combining original features with modern day amenities to provide a truly warm and welcoming holiday home.
Opening into a spacious living room with original beams, wood burner in an inglenook fireplace, comfy sofas and a Smart TV and DVD collection for your entertainment. The heart of the cottage is the country kitchen with dining table and fireside chairs set around the wood burner. A great space for everyone to gather and chat whilst the designated chef rustles up the food. A separate utility / drying room is a perfect spot to throw off coats and boots. Outside, is an enclosed courtyard set with bistro table and chairs. Bikes can be kept here too with access from the side door.
Upstairs are three spacious bedrooms, a single bedroom with shuttered windows, the double bedroom has additional futon providing flexible sleeping and finally the master bedroom with beautiful wood flooring, built in wardrobes and en-suite toilet and washbasin. The bathroom has a free-standing slipper bath for a luxurious soak and for those who prefer convenience, a double shower cubicle.
Out and about, enjoy woodland trails around Stanhope, Tunstall Reservoir and Pow Hill Country Park, all within 16 miles. A short drive will take you to the town of Bishop Auckland or the historic city of Durham with its magnificent cathedral and castle, lovely river walks, quirky shops, great bars, and restaurants. Newcastle upon Tyne, the Metrocentre, Barnard Castle, Derwent Reservoir and Alston, can all be reached within an hour’s drive. A little further afield but still within an hour and a half driving distance, guests will be able to take a day trip to the Lake District, Northumbria, Hadrian’s Wall, Middleton-in-Teesdale and the spectacular, High Force Waterfall, which is the highest in England.
