Llanaelhaearn is nestled at the foot of Yr Eifl hills, about 3 miles south of the village of Trefor. Though small, the village offers a church, sub-Post Office, café and a lovely bakery. Granite from Yr Eifl quarry has been used for many years to make Olympic curling stones, as well as many curb stones found in the larger towns and cities of England and Wales. Its nearby neighbour, Trefor is located on the coast and has small harbour with a pretty sandy beach and old pier, popular for fishing and crabbing. Six miles away, the pretty coastal town of Nefyn sits atop sweeping cliffs on the north coast of the Llyn Peninsula, and features a fine two mile stretch of sandy beach, popular with families. Nefyn offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and is within reach of the amenities of the popular towns of Pwllheli and Abersoch. The coastline around this region is dotted with castles and coves, while fishing, sailing and watersports are all available.
