A classic late Victorian detached family home set in large grounds in a leafy part of Winchester – the capital of Anglo Saxon England. Central Winchester’s Cathedral, shops and restaurants are just a 15 minute walk away.
You will have exclusive use of the house, which offers spacious accomodation for up to ten over 2 floors. There is a private 12m heated swimming pool set in beautifully tended gardens – perfect for soaking up the summer sun, enjoying an afternoon tea or BBQ.
The first floor accomodation features two principal double bedrooms – one at the front and one at the rear of the house. There are two further bedrooms – one with twin beds and one single with the option of a folding bed, a family bathroom and an additional shower room.
The ground floor comprises of a large sitting room with a baby grand piano and feature fireplaces at either end, a dining room, kitchen and conservatory. Towards the rear of the house is a guest quarter which can be configured with a double or twin beds and has a further shower room as well as a utility room (washing machine, tumble dryer).
The house is a 15 minute walk to the bustling city centre – with historic sights, independent shops and dining – either along charming streets or through water meadows with views of St Catherine’s Hill.
Winchester has much to offer the visitor. Explore the 950 year old Cathedral – home of the Winchester Bible and the longest nave in Britain. See Jane Austen’s final resting place and the house where she lived. Find the Great Hall – one of England’s finest medieval buildings containing the iconic round table of Arthurian legend.
For small children there is much to offer, both in the house and nearby. The house has a large trampoline, table tennis table, football goal, basketball and netball hoops and bar football. The swimming pool has a uniform depth of 1.15 metres meaning it’s deep enough for adults to swim but shallow enough for children to enjoy with confidence. South Coast beaches are 45 minutes away, go horseriding in the New Forest or discover the Titanic story at Southampton’s Sea City Museum. Stonehenge is within an hour’s drive. London is less than an hour by train making it possible to catch an evening show at a West End theatre and be back by bedtime.
