The cottage is a short walk to Northumberland's latest visitor attraction - the Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon Museum and Whisky Distillery. Ad Gefrin is the name of the palace which was the home of the kings of Northumbria in the 7th Century.The pubs and restaurants in Wooler offer good food and ales should you fancy a night off cooking and there are plenty of shops and a Post Office providing all the essentials. A short drive from your doorstep will take you to the foothills of the Cheviots in the Northumberland National Park, with wonderful scenery for walking, cycling and pony trekking to suit all abilities. A little further afield lies the Heritage Coastline with an abundance of long golden beaches and historic castles. Kielder Water and Forest Park, Hadrians Wall and Holy Island are all excellent days out within easy reach. York Cottage is in a perfect location for exploring Northumberland at any time of year.
