Glossop Getaway - 260m from Glossop train station. Ideal town centre location. | Apartment in Glossop
1 Bedroom Apartment in Padfield, Glossop
Sandwiched between a bakery and a Chinese takeaway you're right in the middle of it but once you've scaled the 26 external stairs (yep. 26!) you'll be greeted with a sunlit, spacious, airy, duplex apartment with balcony views of numerous local peaks and the infamous Snake Pass.
The apartment is our second home so we have furnished the place to make it comfortable and homey for ourselves as well as our guests. We previously lived overseas in the Far East for most of our lives and know what it feels like when you arrive exhausted at a place and just need a rest. We now live 70m away so are on hand to help if guests should have any issues.
When the Glossop sun is shining the kitchen and sun room enjoy beautiful morning sunlight. The bedroom to the other side of the building catches the afternoon/evening sun.
Known as the Gateway to the Dark Peak, Glossop offers unlimited hikes and runs. Be ready for hills though. Everything is on a hill here. Glossop parkrun (900m away) takes place every Saturday at 9am and always gets a good crowd.
The numerous local pubs and restaurants in Glossop serve everything from a quiet pint in a proper English pub with no TV to upscale dining choices if you want to splash out.
M+S, Lidl, Heron Foods, B+M and Aldi are all within walking distance if you need provisions. Tesco Superstore is 900m away.
Glossop also boasts many independent shops which are often family run. To mention just two, Mettricks is an award-winning butcher and Sowerbutts is a local greengrocer with a daily array of fresh produce on offer.
If coffee is your poison there are several independent coffee shops which create fabulous secret blends. Many have outdoor seating which gets busy if the weather is clement.
No trip to Glossop is complete without a tour of the charity shops. If you've forgotten something or if the weather turns hot or cold, head down the high street. You'll be surprised at the pre-loved bargains you can snap up.
The Boring Stuff: Kitchen facilities: fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, electric oven, gas hob. There is no parking at our apartment but Glossop Train Station offers day parking (24 hours) with RingGo for £6.60 a day. Marks and Spencer car park has electric vehicle chargers. Lloyds Bank (yes a real bank made out of bricks!) is around the corner with 2 outdoor ATM machines if you need cash. Contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere. Glossop has a good multiracial mix of people. Foreign languages and many different UK accents can be heard in the town and having travelled overseas extensively I can safely say Glossop residents are incredibly friendly.
