Stones Throw Cottage is set in a nature lovers' paradise (which is why we do not have internet or wifi). Watch the eagles fly overhead and the boats float by. Less than a half mile to a public beach and boat launch and 3 miles from beautiful Wyalusing State Park. There is a large patio for enjoying the views and a fire pit to stay warm on those cool evenings. The cottage features a cozy master bedroom 4 steps down from the main floor with a large stone fireplace (an electric insert) and king bed. Upstairs has two separate areas with a queen and a full-size bed. Please note that there are sloped ceilings upstairs so is best suited for kids or adults who don't mind having to stoop a little (adults can stand upright in the center of the rooms). The kitchen is stocked with everything needed - full-size stove and fridge, microwave, Keurig and regular coffee maker, tea kettle, dishes, pots and pans, and a few staples (flour, sugar, etc.). A remodel on the bathroom as well and a full-size washer and dryer.
As with many areas along the Mississippi, train tracks are nearby (across the road) and there is a crossing just up the road (by the beach and boat launch) so trains have to sound their horn. Please take this into consideration if you are a light sleeper. We find the use of a white noise app on our phones quite useful.
The cottage is an old stone cottage which is charming but brings some quirks. There will be some bugs. The amount of spray we would need to use to 100% combat them would cause guests to grow a third eye so we try to find a happy medium - some spray and some tolerance to a few bugs.
The cottage is also not handicapped accessible. There are stone steps at both the front and rear access points of the house and they are uneven. The master bedroom is 4 steps down from the main level and the other sleeping area is one flight up from the main level and has sloped ceilings.
